THE new Technium is just what Pembrokeshire needs, according to Welsh MEP Eluned Morgan.
The Euro MP visited the project in Pembroke Dock on Thursday, as part of a look at some of the most innovative projects to be funded by European money.
The EU budget deal for the UK recently secured about £1.3billion of Convergence Fund money, formerly known as Objective One, for west Wales and the valleys over the next seven years.
Mrs Morgan said: "I was very impressed by the project.
"It is just what we need in Pembrokeshire to continue to bring high-quality jobs and investment into the area.
"With the energy situation as it is, Pembrokeshire is particularly well-placed to benefit from the Technium's concentration on that area."
Showing the MEP around the construction site were Pembrokeshire County Council European officer Gwyn Evans and Technium project manager Phil Brown, who explained the sustainability of the project and the unique ways in which it will stimulate business development.
Mrs Morgan went on to say: "The Technium project is essential to ensuring Pembrokeshire exploits this potential and secures a place at the heart of the European knowledge economy."
