From the Western Telegraph, first published Thursday 11th Aug 2005.
Tenby Events Management Ltd and the De Valence are to host their joint international and family-themed event on Sunday, August 14th down on the harbour.
Hullabaloo is a new annual harbour event for Tenby and its visitors, which starts at 3pm until 10pm.
With its international and family theme, fun and laughter is definitely at the top of the agenda. It is the event of the summer you don't want to miss!
Opening the afternoon is London-based steel band Steel Explosion, a Jamaican music combo that's sure to surprise and delight with the exciting sound of steelpans at its core.
Following acts will include local singer and musician, Gareth Howell, Sounds Recycled, an all male accapello group, known for their diversity and adaptability of modern and traditional songs.
Belly-dancer Guinevere Clark, will be running a belly-dancing workshop to create short dance routines to accompany her in her own stylised and unique stage performance the same afternoon.
There will be family fun and entertainment from the De Valence's very own Family Night's entertainer Fergie Beynon and then there's Bruce Airhead.
Bruce Airhead uses a voice-activated vacuum cleaner to inflate a six-foot balloon.
Then to the crowd's disbelief, Bruce slides completely inside the balloon. Once inside, a fast changing sequence of music leads to the explosive finish as the balloon bursts to reveal Bruce as Elvis Presley, in a jump-suit with wig and sunglasses.
Closing the day will be Walking Wounded, a five-piece band (accordion, guitar, harmonica, bass and percussion and three-part harmony vocals) from east London playing a wide variety of original material from rock to Arabic, reggae to Balkan, Celtic toska and blues.
Keeping the whole day together will be compere for the day, Tenby girl and children's entertainer, Fergie Beynon.
Throughout the day there will also be lots of surprises and walkabouts in the centre of Tenby and on the harbour from local performers and artists from Circus Malarkey.
l Hullabalo has been sponsored by Serendipity Games Centre of Tenby, Frank B Mason, Texaco and WEFO. All money raised will be used to promote and develop youth initiatives at De Valence and in and around Tenby as part of the Tenby Events Management Project.
Youth initiatives are likely to include youth theatre workshops, one-off workshops from visiting and local professional artists and events, which provide a professional set-up/ platform for new and emerging bands, singers and dancers.
The overall Tenby Events Management Ltd and De Valence project has been funded by European Objective One Funding.
