Nicola wins U19s Welsh cap

From the Western Telegraph, first published Wednesday 18th Aug 2004.

TENBY'S 17-year-old Nicola Aston, a pupil of Greenhill School, has received her first U19s Welsh cap for wonen's football after playing an international match for Wales against Northern Ireland. This was played at the Bridge Meadow, Haverfordwest and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Nicola, who is working in her summer holiday as a lifeguard at Tenby's Kiln Park Holiday Park, has also been successful at junior levels for her country - in the under 13s, under 14s and under 15s, where she travelled to Denmark. She has also been a regular team player for the Pembrokeshire County side, as well as at club level for Tenby Ladies Football Club.

The next international in which Nicola will be competing in is the 2004 UEFA cup at the end of September, which this year is being held in Britain this year.

Special thanks must go to Gerry Rigby, FAW Development Officer, who has been instrumental in Nicola's success in reaching these levels, and Angela Nicholls for her coaching skills, together with Tenby Junior School where Nicola's first introduction to girls football began.

Family and friends wish her continued success in her footballing conquests.
